Your email list is your most direct connection to your fans. Topspin's Email for Media (E4M) widget is a tool designed to help you effectively build your mailing list with valuable emails that you can market to down the road. When you give out a download for free, you can make sure you are getting a marketable email back in return by using an E4M widget.
When a fan enters their email in your widget, a confirmation email will be automatically sent to their inbox, asking them to verify that they would like to join your list. Clicking confirm will open up a new window in their browser, where they can download the media you have set up for giveaway.
This double-opt-in method means that a fan confirms their interest twice (once by submitting their email in the widget; a second time by clicking through in the email they receive). This is industry best practice, and also provides the benefit of populating your network with real fans who may be more likely to buy products offered in the future.
To create an Email for Media Campaign, go to the "Promote" tab and select "New Offer" then choose "Email for Media".

At the bottom of the creation form, you can see what the widget you’re creating will look like.
If you’re satisfied with the appearance of the widget, click “Publish” in the upper right of the creation form. You will be presented with a confirmation page that displays your widget and includes the embed widget code that you will need to place on your website. (Don’t worry - you don’t need to grab your embed code immediately. You can always go back to that Email for Media widget by navigating to the Spin > Summary page and clicking on the widget name).
The email for media embed code can be inserted in to web pages. It's possible to embed the code on social network sites as well. To embed email for media widgets on your Facebook site follow this guide here.
You should always give your widget a quick test from start to finish to make sure that it works as expected - from putting in your email address to downloading your media.
Find your Email for Media campaign under the “Summary” view of the “Spin” section. Click on the campaign name and you’ll be able to view data like number of views and sign-ups.
The E4M is functional on mobile devices. We've modified the widget embed code that is applied to all new E4Ms created in Topspin. Any older E4Ms are easily retrofitted for mobile compatibility, as well. Just click the widget in your account and "Publish Changes". That's it!
When an Email for Media Widget is shared into Facebook, your friends (or anyone who has access to your Wall) will have the ability to input their email into the widget directly on Facebook. This functionality is only enabled for users who browse Facebook with an http connection.

If a user has their account settings set to “Secure Browsing (https)”, they will instead be linked to the widget in your Topspin Store / Spinshop, where they can then input their email address to receive a download. The screenshot below is what a user would see if they were browsing using an https connection.

Notice the absence of the play button in the bottom left hand corner of the widget. That is a sign that a user is on a https connection, as apposed to the first screenshot where there is a play button.
To change what type of connection you use on Facebook, go to ACCOUNT, ACCOUNT SETTINGS, ACCOUNT SECURITY, and change the SECURE BROWSING (HTTPS) check box accordingly.
