We are always looking for ways to get artists paid faster. If we were a simple shopping cart, it would be a little different. The fact is, we handle artist support and manage the relationship with the fan. We are the retailer. If we paid through immediately as funds came in, the artist would need to refund directly to the fan, rather than us taking care of it for them. We also handle a lot of payment flow and accounting. For example, we split the funds collected to the government (taxes), the fulfiller (shipping), the artist, and any third-party payees. This is not something that 99.9% of artists are prepared to, or even want to worry about.
