Drop fans off at a custom URL when they confirm & download

Download Anywhere

When fans sign up for your email list, they are sent an automated confirmation email immediately after they submit. Fans must click the link in this message to confirm that they would like to join your list, ensuring that they are a real email address you will be able to market to later on.

By default, the landing page where fans are directed to download is your Spinshop, and a unique download link is created above your offers. If you'd like to change the page where fans are directed when they click to confirm, you can do this using Download Anywhere.

Getting Started

1. Create a standard Email for Media widget in your Topspin account
2. Head over to labs.topspin.net to create a new Download Anywhere configuration
3. Fill in the basic information required by Download Anywhere:
  • Artist Name
  • Topspin Artist ID (found in your Artist Profile
  • What page do you want fans to download from? (Input a valid URL for any page on the web - you choose where your fans land upon downloading)
  • Title of Media
  • Email for Media "Widget ID" (found in your Promote Tab) - click back into the widget you created in step one, and take a look at the embed code. You will see a section of the code that reads id="TSWidgetXXXXXX". The number that immediately follows "TSWidget" is your unique Widget ID:

  • Finally, enter your email address (you'll be receiving an email from us when your Download Anywhere URL has been created). The completed form should resemble the following:

Click "Save" to create.

Your Download Anywhere configuration is now complete. You'll arrive at a final page that looks like the below. This page will stay active once your widget is live and will measure your widget's activity by tabulating total shares and clicks.

3. Now, the final step. Copy the "Confirmation URL for the Email for Media Widget" you see on this page and paste it into to the Confirmation URL field in your Topspin Email for Media widget like so:

Once you've republished your Email for Media widget with the new Confirmation URL (as seen in the pictures directly above), you're all set! Fans will be dropped off at the URL of your choosing whenever they confirm and download via your E4M:

You can do this in two simple steps:

1. Go to your Download Anywhere configuration settings. (This link can be found in the email you received when you first set the Download Anywhere).
2. Under Advanced Configuration Settings, add a link to an image of your choice. This image will be set up as the background of the Download Anywhere modal.

Display your widget in a lightbox over any URL on the web

Once you've created your Download Anywhere Confirmation URL, you can append a simple variable to it to create a whole new tool for your promotional widgets. Paste &fb=1 to the end of your Confirmation URL like so:

Dave_Widaman_-_Confirm_and_Download.jpg

This will open a lightbox on top of your Confirmation URL (as usual), but will display your actual widget, rather than a download link. Click here to visit a working example.

Use Download Anywhere to display any widget on any page

You can use Download Anywhere to launch any widget you can think of in a light box on any page on the web. Just follow this two step process:

Make sure to alter your widget width and height parameters so that your widget fits perfectly inside the lightbox!

2.) Once you've saved your Advanced Widget Link Settings, take your Confirmation URL and append &fb=3 to the end of it, like so:

The new link (including &fb=3) will display your embedded code in a light box on any page on the web! Click to see this in action!

More Optional Settings

Title of Page

This field will adjust the title of the confirm page that fans see in their browser tab.

What page does Twitter link to?

This should be a URL that has the widget on it. The URL we set by default shows the widget in a lightbox on top of the page you have chosen for fans to download from. If you want to change this URL make sure the widget is on the page you choose.

What page does Facebook link to?

This should be a URL that has the widget on it. The page must also have proper Facebook share vars installed on the page so that Facebook sharing works properly. We handle this all for you with the default URL we set. If you want to change this URL, the Facebook share vars that you will need to install on your page are below for you to copy and paste. If you are uncomfortable with this, you should not change this from the default URL.

What page do you want fans to download from?

This is the URL that fans will land on after they close the lightbox.

Widget ID

This is the widget ID of the e4m widget that will be shared on Facebook. Chances are, there is no need for this, but perhaps you want to share a widget with slightly different headline text than your original widget, still offering up the same piece of media. If so, just enter the other widget's ID here.

Facebook Share Vars

If you want, you can put these share vars inside the <head> tag of any page you control. If you do so, when you share that page's URL on Facebook, it will display the widget (or player, or image) as determined in the Facebook share vars above (save first and then copy/paste this code).

Advanced Confirm Settings - For Facebook Links

When a fan clicks "Share on Facebook" or "Share on Twitter" from the Confirmation light box, the link that they post to Facebook or Twitter is your widget in a lightbox. Here, you can control the height and width of the widget. We apply the following flashvars automatically: imageVAlign=top, displayInitialScreen=false

Widget width

Change the width of your widget so when fans click on a shared link from Facebook (or Twitter by default) it looks how you want it to.

Widget height

Change the height of your widget so when fans click on a shared link from Facebook (or Twitter by default) it looks how you want it to.

Advanced Confirm Settings - Without Download

When your e4m does not give away media, instead of displaying the generic "thanks" light box, you can show an image.

Please enter the link to the image

This is the URL to where your image is hosted.

Image width

This is the width at which you want your image to display.

Image height

This is the height at which you want your image to display.

Confirm page background image URL

Instead of displaying the site you are driving traffic to below the lightbox, you can choose to display an image instead. If the site below is also not displaying correctly (CSS isn't loading underneath the lightbox) you can just enter a URL to an image of the page here.
